Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, is encouraging Malvern community groups to participate in Children’s Week 2012.
Children’s Week is a national program recognising the talents, skills, achievements and rights of young people, and celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood, focussing on play, wellbeing and protection in line with the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child.
“Children’s Week 2012 provides families with the opportunity to celebrate young people and is a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities to the community,” Mr O’Brien said.
“With events to be held around Australia from Saturday 20 to Sunday 28 October, Children’s Week also offers groups in the Malvern electorate the opportunity to raise their profile and to also strengthen relationships within the community.”
Schools, kindergartens, libraries and other community groups are encouraged to register their events to be included in an interactive calendar by Friday 14 September via www.education.vic.gov.au/childrensweek.
