Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, recently visited the newly redeveloped Stonnington Animal Pound, which is operated by the Save a Dog Scheme.
The Save a Dog Scheme is a community-based, not-for-profit animal welfare organisation which provides shelter for unclaimed sick and injured animals. Operating with a ‘no kill philosophy’, the Save a Dog Scheme provides medical treatment for animals to prevent them from being unnecessarily euthanised.
The Stonnington Animal Pound has received redevelopment work with the assistance of the City of Stonnington Council to provide for enlarged and improved facilities to better meet the increase in demand for animal accommodation.
As a long-term supporter of the Save a Dog Scheme, Michael attended the Stonnington Animal Pound to show his and the Malvern community’s ongoing support for the important work conducted by the Scheme’s volunteers and paid staff.
“I acknowledge the wonderful work of Pam Weaver OAM who has led SADS to the strong position it is in today, and Stonnington Mayor Cr. John Chandler, for his vital support” Michael said.
