Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, is encouraging local residents with a passion for recreational fishing to apply for the 2012/13 Recreational Fishing Grants Program.
“The Victorian Government is pleased to support Victoria’s recreational fishing sector through providing grant programs such as the Recreational Fishing Grants Program,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Funding of over $3.1 million is available to 100 successful grant recipients in order to improve recreational fishing opportunities across the State.”
This funding is in addition to the Recreational Fishing Initiative that the Victorian Government is implementing over four years to build on the investment fishers themselves are making through the revenues received from recreational fishing licenses.
The Recreational Fishing Grants Program consists of two parts:
1. Small Grants of up to $5,000 (GST exclusive) for small projects to improve recreational fishing.
2. Large Grants from $5,001 to $100,000 (GST exclusive) to improve various aspects of recreational fishing sustainability, facilities, education and research.
