Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, is encouraging aspiring journalism students within the Malvern community who are passionate about Aussie Rules football, to apply for the AFL Youth Rookie Reporters Program.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for five young Victorians to spend a year working with senior AFL reporters writing news stories for the AFL website,” Mr O’Brien said.
The voluntary internship will also take the budding journalists behind the scenes to see how a high-profile sport and digital media outlet works.
“The experience gained from an opportunity like this will help develop a solid writing portfolio for future employment prospects, so I urge aspiring journalists to apply for the AFL Youth Rookie Reporters Program.”
Applicants must currently be living in Victoria; aged between 18 and 25 years, and currently studying or have recently completed a qualification in journalism or equivalent.
