Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, has congratulated the P Drivers Project on its one year anniversary and encourages more drivers to become involved.
The $10 million program aims to recruit 28,000 newly licenced drivers aged between 17-22 across Victoria and New South Wales to be educated on behaviours common in young drivers that lead to serious injury or fatal crashes, such as following distance, speed management, gap selection, hazard recognition and response.
Mr O’Brien recommended that young drivers register for the program, which also provides rewards from sponsors such as Caltex, CityLink, Real Gap Travel, Student Flights, Strike Entertainment, Vplates, MyPlates and 7 Eleven including overseas trips and a $500 fuel voucher.
The P Drivers Project is a joint initiative with the Australian Government, Victorian and New South Wales State Governments, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, RACV and NRMA insurance.
