Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, today announced that applications are now open to fund National Youth Week events during National Youth Week in 2013.
National Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration of Australia’s young people – aged between 12 and 25 – and will take place next year from 5-14 April.
“National Youth Week is a fantastic opportunity for young people from around Australia to celebrate and be acknowledged for their contributions to local communities,” Mr O’Brien said.
Grants of up to $2,000 will be available to assist groups of young people who organise events for other young people during National Youth Week. Examples of previously funded projects include arts focused events, cultural days, sporting events and forums which promote a community focus on issues concerning young people.
“The Victorian Government grants will help young Victorians be a part of National Youth Week. More than 25, 000 young Victorians took part in the 2012 National Youth Week, hopefully that number will rise next year.”
In addition, the Coalition Government will work in partnership with beyondblue to support youth-led activities, events and projects that raise awareness of depression and anxiety.
Applications for National Youth Week 2013 grants close on Friday 7 December 2012.
