Michael O’Brien MP, Member for Malvern, is encouraging young Victorians in the local community to apply for membership of the Victorian Coalition Government’s Involve Committee.
“If you are aged between 12 and 25, are active in the community and passionate about the future of Victoria, we want to hear from you”, Mr O’Brien said.
Established two years ago, the Coalition Government’s Involve committee gives young people the chance to input into government decision-making via direct advice and feedback to Ministers and the Victorian Government, across all portfolios.
Nineteen young Victorians will have a say in the decisions that affect them, thus building stronger communities and creating future leaders.
“Successful applicants will be chosen from a range of criteria including their communication skills, past experiences in other youth-based organisations and interest in community issues,” Mr O’Brien said.
Committee members will be required to attend 12 Friday evening meetings over an 18-month period and take part in training and other activities.
Applications close on 11 March 2013. Further information, together with an application form, is available at Youth Central, the Victorian Coalition Government’s website for young people, at www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au/involve
