Michael O’Brien, MP, Member for Malvern announces the opening of the 2013-2014 round of the Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour Grants Program.
“To help communities prepare for the coming Anzac Centenary, the Government has decided to extend this program to include the restoration of existing avenues of honour which may involve the replanting of trees, repairs to damaged plaques or the inclusion of explanatory walls reflecting the history of the avenue, Mr O’Brien said.
“The Government has also decided to double the funding available for the program over the next two years to $500,000 per annum and to double the maximum grant available to $20,000 to help communities preserve, restore and enhance local war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour.
Mr O’Brien said “applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and a copy of the guidelines and application details can be obtained at www.veterans.vic.gov.au
“Organisations are invited to consider submitting an application for support to restore or enhance their local community war memorial, honour roll or avenue of honour,” Mr O’Brien said.
