Melbourne families will get $400 of real savings on their household water bills thanks to the Victorian Coalition Government, Member for Malvern, Michael O’Brien announced today.
“The Victorian Coalition Government is committed to reducing cost of living pressures on families in Malvern and our Fairer Water Bills will deliver real savings for household budgets,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Under Fairer Water Bills, more than $1 billion of savings have been identified across Victoria’s water corporations.
“These savings will translate into bill reductions of approximately $100 per year for household customers of Yarra Valley Water, for the next four year.
“Customers will start seeing the Fairer Water Bills $100 discounts on their household bills from July.
Mr O’Brien said the Victorian Coalition Government was delivering on the promise to make household water bills are as low as possible.
“Household water bills for Melbourne customers have skyrocketed because of poor decisions by the former Labor government, like the desalination plant and the north-south pipeline.
“The Napthine Coalition Government has found real savings for water bills that will help ease the cost of living pressures on families.
“The water corporations have worked hard to identify savings and efficiencies that will not compromise service standards, and the customer hardship protections that help struggling customers will continue.”
Mr O’Brien said the Victorian Coalition Government had a strong record helping families balance their budgets.
“Victorian Coalition Government initiatives include flexible pricing for electricity bills, more affordable public transport, an increased first home buyers stamp duty concession, and more than doubling funding for utilities concessions to $508 million.
“Fairer Water Bills is the latest way the Victorian Coalition Government is delivering real hip-pocket savings for the families of Malvern.
