$100,000 GRANT TO LIGHT UP PERCY TREYVAUD RESERVE
Sporting communities in Malvern will soon be able to enjoy better local venues thanks to a Victorian Government funding boost, announced today by the Member for Malvern, Michael O’Brien.
Michael said the announcement was part of the latest round of the Community Facility Funding Program’s Minor Facilities category.
“Local sport and recreation clubs and their facilities play a vital role in bringing Victorian communities closer together, giving communities a place they can enjoy their sports and build on community traditions and pride,” Michael said.
“The Program ensures communities like those in the Malvern region can continue to depend on their facilities, as it provides funding assistance to improve the quality of existing facilities or develop new ones.”
“By revitalising local sports facilities, we are ensuring communities can host bigger and better sporting events, accommodate more people of all abilities, and encourage even more people to get more active,” he said.
Michael was pleased to reveal that $100,000 had been provided to Stonnington City Council to install floodlighting at Percy Treyvaud Reserve, Malvern East, stating that “the Percy Treyvaud Reserve has long been a popular location for sports teams like the Chadstone Redbacks Lacrosse Club and general members of the public to exercise and play sports. Having floodlights installed will ensure there is clear visibility for those who train or use the Reserve in the late afternoon and evenings.”
“By investing in high-quality, accessible community sport and recreation facilities, the program goes a long way towards increasing participation in communities right across Victoria,” Michael said.
