"Since its inception, I have consistently opposed this development proposal for its inappropriate height and scale for the area.
" I have raised the concerns of local residents about this proposal in Parliament, in the community and within government.
"I therefore share the deep disappointment of local residents that the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal has seen fit to approve it without significant amendment.
"I am particularly concerned with the impact of this development on local schools, transport infrastructure and amenity, which VCAT seems to have given little weight.
"While VCAT referred to Council's lack of policy to deal with the site as a factor in its decision, I support the efforts of Stonnington Council to seek appropriate planning outcomes for this site.
"It is now a matter for Stonnington Council as to whether the VCAT decision warrants judicial review in the Supreme Court of Victoria."
