Auditor-General blows whistle on Daniel Andrews’ public sector spending spree

While Victorians facing skyrocketing power prices are struggling to pay their bills, Daniel Andrews keeps spending big on spin doctors and bureaucrats.

The Victorian Auditor General’s Office report tabled in Parliament today shows public sector wages blew out to $22.6 billion in 2016-17. The comparable figure at the 2014 election was $18.5 billion; an increase of $4.1 billion or more than 22 per cent.

Victoria’s public sector wage increases are far in excess of those received by Victorians working in the private sector.

In calling out Daniel Andrews’ unsustainable explosion in the bureaucracy, the Auditor-General also noted that “not enough funding is allocated to maintaining the State’s existing assets”.

While Labor is looking after the bureaucracy, basic maintenance of schools, roads and public transport is being neglected.

No wonder Victoria has the highest taxes in the country; Daniel Andrews is paying off his fat cat union mates.
