Ben Carroll, the work experience Minister for Employment, is trying to distract attention from the fact that Victoria has the highest unemployment rate in Australia with another blatant lie.
This hapless Minister is claiming a Liberal Nationals Government will conduct a
commission of audit into government services, relying on as proof Coalition comments in an article headed “Victorian prisoners to be put to work under jail shake-up” (14 October 2017).
As the headline of the article suggests, the news report was about the Coalition’s plan to expand the current program of prisoners growing food and making their own furniture. There is no reference to a commission of audit into other government services.
What the Coalition committed to in this article is “a cost audit and a review of luxuries provided to prisoners”.
With Labor MP Jane Garrett being bullied out of Parliament for standing up to Daniel Andrews’ attacks on CFA volunteers, it is clear that the Premier poses the greatest threat to public sector employment – if you’re a Labor MP with a mind of your own.
