Andrews’ further delays will cost more Victorian jobs and small businesses

Daniel Andrews will belatedly get “back on the beers” even before the majority of Victorian students can get back in the classroom.

It again shows the wrong priorities of this Labor Premier.

Our schools should be back already and our small hospitality businesses should be open – just as they are in other states.

Expert medical advice from Australia’s Chief Medical Officer and Victoria’s Chief Health Officer confirms that schools are safe.

Yet most parents and students will have to struggle with remote learning for another 3 weeks because of Daniel Andrews’ decision to delay a return to classrooms.

Victoria’s hospitality businesses will also remain closed to dine-in customers for weeks despite other states following National Cabinet advice and immediately opening cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Daniel Andrews says “it isn’t viable” for small businesses to open to 10 or fewer patrons.

What would he know? He’s never run a small business in his life.

Given advice it is safe to open with social distancing, the Liberals and Nationals support small hospitality businesses deciding for themselves if it is viable to open.

In flattening the curve, Daniel Andrews has flattened Victoria’s economy. Many small businesses won’t survive the Premier’s continual delays to re-open the state.

Only the Liberal Nationals have a plan to get Victoria back to work and back in business.

All Daniel Andrews has is politically stage-managed announcements to justify further delays in reviving Victoria’s economy.
