As Labor brawls Victorians are losing their jobs

Almost 200,000 Victorians have lost their jobs while Daniel Andrews and his corrupt mates brawl over power in the Labor Party.

Victoria’s unemployment rate has risen to 6.9 per cent in May, up from 6.0 per cent in April and 5.2 per cent in March 2020.

Victoria’s unemployment rate has increased significantly over the past year – the worst of any state, up 2.3 per cent since May 2019.

In May, there were 198,700 fewer people in employment than there were two months earlier in March 2020.

There are 70,800 fewer people employed in Victoria compared to last month. This is the largest number of people who have lost their jobs in any state in the country last month.

Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:

“Daniel Andrews is focusing on factional brawls in the Labor Party instead of Victorians and their jobs.

“Today’s ABS Labour Force Statistics show Victoria’s unemployment rate rise over the past years is worse than any other state.

“The 200,000 Victorians who have lost their jobs urgently need a government that is focused on getting our state back to work and not infighting.”
