The Liberal Nationals are today calling for the Minister for Health to temporarily extend the appointments of hospital board members approaching the end of their terms to ensure continuity and stability on our hospital boards during the unfolding COVID-19 crisis.
At June 30 a large number of hospital board members terms will expire, but the Liberal Nationals are calling on this date to be extended by one year.
In some cases, board members tenures will come to an end and in other cases, there is a limit of three terms a member can serve on a board.
The Health Minister must act quickly to temporarily extend these appointments during this crisis to provide stability to our stretched hospitals.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:
“Hospitals and health boards around Victoria cannot afford to have leadership teams being moved on during this crisis.
“The common sense approach is to ensure stability and continuity during these uncertain times – the last thing Victorian hospitals can afford is years of experience being forced out the door.
“I’m calling on the Victorian Health Minister to give certainty to Victorian hospitals and delay an unnecessary shakeup at the top until these unforeseen circumstances have passed.”
