Contact tracing still plagued with problems

Daniel Andrews claims his contact tracing program is top notch, but evidence today paints a very different picture.

A caller to 3AW this morning spoke of his confusing experience with DHHS.  Chris said his wife was in the Oddfellows Café in Kilmore on Wednesday for lunch.  Contact tracers called her Saturday and told her she didn’t have to isolate.

On Sunday she was told she did need to isolate but “it’d probably be better not to get a test”, as she’d “clog up the system.”  Her husband was told that he was not a close contact and not to isolate, then later told something to the contrary.

How is this confusion and misinformation on contact tracing still happening?

Today Daniel Andrews said the Chadstone butcher cluster is “under control” and DHHS officials have claimed contact tracers were all over Kilmore’s outbreak.

Victorians have had enough of the spin, they just want the truth, and they want contact tracing to be fixed.

Victorians have no confidence in the Andrews Labor Government’s handling of contact tracing. They want to get back on with their lives – but Andrews continues to disappoint, day after day, week after week.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:

“Contact tracing is the biggest defence we have.  Cases have finally dropped to lower levels thanks to the hard work of Victorians, but the Daniel Andrews contact tracing mess must be fixed so that we don’t end up with a third wave.

“Contact tracing is still a confusing mess and it’s the only reason Daniel Andrews won’t allow Victoria to reopen.  He clearly doesn’t trust the system.

“The Andrews Labor Government is telling Victorians one thing but the truth is another thing.”
