Daniel Andrews’ campaign against CFA volunteers intensifies

The CFA has suffered yet another resignation, that of Daniel Andrews’ handpicked CFA board Chair, Greg Smith, as Labor’s war with CFA volunteers rages on.

It’s reported that Mr Smith has resigned after he refused to sign Labor’s destructive CFA/FRV secondment agreement, that would disempower CFA volunteers.

The fact that even Daniel Andrews’ handpicked man wouldn’t agree to sign Labor’s CFA takeover shows just how rotten this deal is for volunteers.

Daniel Andrews’ war on the CFA has waged for more than five years now and it’s clear he’ll stop at nothing to hand power to his mates in the United Firefighters Union.

Earlier this month the Liberal Nationals committed that within the first 100 days of being elected, we will introduce legislation to restore the CFA’s power to select, recruit and manage its own staff and wear the CFA uniform. This Legislation will enhance the CFA’s powers and responsibilities for the ongoing delivery of fire services in current CFA areas.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Nick Wakeling:

“It’s clear than under Daniel Andrews the CFA has no leadership and no direction.

“How many more people will be sacked or resign as a result of Daniel Andrews’ campaign to destroy the CFA?

“Even Daniel Andrews’ handpicked man won’t sign off on Labor’s dodgy deal that sells out our CFA volunteers.

“Daniel Andrews has abandoned CFA volunteers and is hellbent on delivering power to his mates in the UFU.

“The Liberal Nationals are committing to ensuring the CFA remains a strong and independent volunteer fire service.”
