Freeze the tolls

The Liberal Nationals are calling on the State Government and Transurban to cancel the increase in tolls set for April 1 to alleviate unnecessary cost burdens during the COVID-19 crisis.

Many of the people using our roads are essential workers. They’re feeding us, they’re health workers, they’re delivering essential supplies, they shouldn’t be slugged with extra tolls at this already difficult time.

The Andrews Labor Government changed legislation allowing Transurban to set their own tolls.

This is already a terribly difficult time and Transurban shouldn’t be making it even harder by increasing tolls.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Roads (Metropolitan), Brad Battin:

“The State Government should demand that Transurban cancel the toll increases to help reduce cost burdens on essential service workers that rely on these roads.

“The people on the roads at the moment are health workers, they’re truck drivers carrying essential supplies and businesses that are supporting the community – they shouldn’t be slugged with increased tolls.”
