Reports today that Victoria Police plan to use drones and aerial surveillance to enforce COVID-19 restrictions on Grand Final Day is the latest example of the inconsistent enforcement and hypocrisy from Daniel Andrews.
Current restrictions allow groups of 10 people from a maximum of 2 households to gather outdoors and entirely bans private gatherings. Confusion continues around rules for the use of picnic facilities and consumption of alcohol in public places.
This hardline enforcement approach follows the disgraceful decision by Daniel Andrews and his gang-of-eight to allow up to 1,250 people to attend the Cox Plate this Saturday.
Whilst the Andrews Labor Government backflipped on this plan only hours after its announcement, this is yet another clear example of the inconsistent rules and cherry-picked exemptions that have occurred all too often.
Under the Liberal Nationals’ roadmap, retail and restaurants would have reopened with masks and density limits.
Victorians are now in no doubt that it is one set of rules for Daniel Andrews hand-picked winners and another set for everyone else.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Police and Community Safety, David Southwick:
“Victorians trying to do the right thing and safely enjoy a day outdoors with family or friends are being treated like criminals by Daniel Andrews.
“Whether its 10,000 BLM protesters, horse races or union construction sites – Labor continues to pick winners and punish losers.
“How can Victorians have faith in this government when it continues to back-flip, chop and change rules and focus on over the top, hardline enforcement?”
