The Liberal Nationals are calling on the State Government to urgently refund campsite fees for the State’s Crown land parks and National Parks to thousands of Victorians who have booked campsites for the Easter break.
Camping is off-limits on public land due to the Stage Three restrictions in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
At a time when many Victorians are facing financial hardship it is only fair that campsite booking fees be promptly refunded by Parks Victoria.
While bookings at Wilsons Promontory National Park are being refunded, the State Government has failed to extend this policy to all Crown land parks, State forests and National Parks in Victoria.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Bridget Vallence:
“With restrictions on non-essential travel, Victorians are banned from going on their annual Easter camping holidays. It’s not fair that Victorian’s will lose money for holidays they can no longer take.
“Victorians are upset that Parks Victoria have remained silent, and have refused to commit to refunding camp and caravan site fees.
“With Victorians already under immense financial pressure, the State Government should do the decent thing and refund all camp site fees as a priority.”
