It’s time for Department of Health and Human Services shake-up

The sudden resignation of Kym Peake for what looks like taking the blame for the failures in Hotel Quarantine provides an opportunity for the Department of Health Human Services to be split.

Now is the perfect time for the Andrews Labor Government to implement the Liberal Nationals’ Back to Work Plan and split DHHS into two departments.

The Liberal Nationals believe Health and Human Services should be separate due to the important work they do and the fundamental failures by the Andrews Labor Government over the past five years.

The Liberal Nationals believe the core responsibility of the Department of Health should be health and the delivery of health services to all Victorians, and the core responsibility of the Department of Human Services should be the delivery of child and family services such as child protection, family violence, housing and the delivery of mental health and drug and alcohol services with a focus on Victoria’s most vulnerable.

Daniel Andrews doesn’t need to delay this, he should just get on with it and do it.
