Labor must ensure CFA volunteers can undertake vital training

The Andrews Labor Government must immediately lift restrictions on thousands of CFA volunteers undertaking vital training.

Due to Labor’s COVID-19 restrictions, many CFA brigades across the state have been unable to conduct vital equipment and skills training for volunteers for several months.

This lack of training will potentially endanger the lives of volunteers and will leave many CFA brigades underprepared for the upcoming fire season.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Nick Wakeling:

“Daniel Andrews must immediately reverse this ban on vital skills and equipment training for CFA volunteers.

“Labor’s ban is placing volunteers at risk and will put in jeopardy the preparedness of CFA with the upcoming fire season.

“It’s simply not good enough for Daniel Andrews to say this critical training can’t happen.

“Surely the State Government can ensure that appropriate PPE and social distancing measures can be implemented.”
