Labor’s dodgy deal on West Gate Tunnel goes from bad to worse

Leaked documents from Daniel Andrews’ Cabinet reveal a massive $3 billion cost blowout in Labor’s scandal-plagued West Gate Tunnel Project.

Not only is the West Gate Tunnel now going to cost at least 45 per cent more than budgeted for, it is also at least 10 months behind schedule.

Labor has botched the West Gate Tunnel Project from the very beginning and Victorian taxpayers are paying the price.

In Daniel Andrews’ desperate haste to please his mates at Transurban, Labor has cut corners and truncated proper process in dealing with the toxic, PFAS riddled soil from the West Gate Tunnel Project.

These costly blunders are set to hit taxpayers hard.

This is $3 billion that should have been spent on schools or hospitals or helping the thousands of small businesses that have been destroyed by Andrews’ harsh lockdown and curfew.

It is disgraceful that a massive multi-national company like Transurban can profit multi-billions of dollars from Labor during COVID while thousands of Victorian sole traders are left without any support.

Victorians have lost faith in Daniel Andrews and Labor to govern our state and the dumping of toxic soil in Bacchus March and Bulla is just one of the litany of examples of Labor riding roughshod over the community.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, David Davis:

“Labor’s arrogant mismanagement of the West Gate Tunnel project will see toxic PFAS contaminated soil dumped near homes in Bacchus Marsh and Bulla.

“These secret documents from inside the Andrews Labor Government expose a $3 billion cost blowout and at least a ten-month delay.

“This monumental stuff-up should see Labor’s Infrastructure Minister, Jacinta Allan resign or be sacked. How many more projects can this incompetent Minister screw up?

“This is the price all Victorians are paying for an incompetent Labor Government. History shows that Labor can’t manage money.”
