After months of leading a pitiful COVID-19 response, incompetent Health Minister Jenny Mikakos has finally accepted she must go.
The hotel quarantine inquiry has proven the Labor Government is not up to running this state. Now it’s time for disgraced Premier Daniel Andrews to step down, so that Victoria has a chance of getting through Labor’s second wave, and finally join the rest of Australia in recovering.
Victoria has had the worst contact tracing and hotel quarantine program in the nation. Both bungled operations have allowed coronavirus into the community, killing more than 750 people and destroying the livelihoods of many more.
All Labor Government Ministers and bureaucrats who have appeared in front of the hotel quarantine inquiry have alleged they have no idea who put untrained and unprofessional private security guards in charge. Victorians have been given nothing but finger pointing and cover-up. Enough is enough.
Today Jenny Mikakos disagreed with Premier Daniel Andrews’ evidence that she was in charge of the hotel quarantine debacle. Premier Andrews has clearly thrown Mikakos under the bus to protect himself. That’s despite him backing her just days earlier after the Health Workers Union labelled her “clueless”, calling for her resignation.
Victorians have lost confidence in the Andrews Labor Government.
Comments attributable to the leader of the Opposition, Michael O’Brien:
“Jenny Mikakos deserved to go because she was incompetent and gave untrue evidence to the hotel quarantine inquiry. But it’s clear she didn’t make the decision to use private security guards. That falls at the feet of the Premier.
“Daniel Andrews knew private security would be part of the hotel quarantine program before it began, but he never questioned it, despite creating an inquiry into the dodgy industry. Andrews cannot say he didn’t know private security weren’t up to the job.
“Daniel Andrews has agreed how hotel quarantine ran was “disappointing” and “unacceptable”. Well if the buck stops with you Premier, it’s time for you to act and resign now.”
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:
“The Liberal Nationals have been calling for this for months. A fish rots from the head down and Daniel Andrews has lied and tried to cover-up the monumental failures of his Labor Government.
“Daniel Andrews can’t think by Jenny Mikakos going, all will be fine. It is not. Premier Andrews must go, now.
“Instead of fighting for Victorians, Jenny Mikakos, Daniel Andrews and the Labor movement are fighting amongst themselves.”
