Parents, community send desperate plea for relocation of Labor’s drug injecting room

Parents of children at North Richmond Primary School and community members at last night’s meeting on the problems at Labor’s drug injecting room have sent a clear message to the Government: Labor should never have built its drug injecting room next to a primary school.

Parents are sending their kids to mental health counselling because students are exposed to escalating drug-fuelled violence, overdoses and dead bodies at the front gate, but Labor MPs didn’t even bother to turn up to last night’s meeting to hear the community’s concerns.

Frontline police have also reported more drug-related activity and violence in the area.

The Andrews Labor Government’s so desperate to justify its drug injecting room model that it’s doggedly ignoring the devastating impact on children’s and families’ mental health and personal safety.

The problems are going from bad to worse.

It’s time for Labor to finally listen to school parents and put the lives and safety of children first.

If the Andrews Government genuinely wants to continue its trial, it will immediately move this centre to a more suitable location, away from primary schools, local businesses and tourist hotspots.
