The Andrews Labor Government has been shamed into calling a Royal Commission into Crown Casino.
This is the Royal Commission Daniel Andrews didn’t want to have.
Never before have we seen a Royal Commission announced at 4.30pm on a Monday by a junior Minister with the Premier nowhere to be seen.
It’s two weeks since New South Wales’ Bergin Inquiry handed down its final report which exposed serious allegations of money laundering and the infiltration of organised crime.
Pressure from the Liberal Nationals has dragged the Premier kicking and screaming to undertake any kind of investigation into Crown.
Under Labor, Victoria’s regulator has become a lap dog instead of a watch dog.
The Andrews Government must make sure that this Royal Commission has the time and resources it needs to ensure this inquiry is not a whitewash.
