Truth and accountability in short supply while investigations into Andrews’ failed hotel quarantine program pile-up

Yesterday it was revealed that WorkSafe is investigating two Andrews Labor Government Departments and a number of the security firms Andrews tasked with running his botched hotel quarantine program.

It was also revealed that Victoria Police is undertaking a criminal investigation into the actions of private security licence holders involved in Labor’s hotel quarantine system.

These investigations join the list of inquiries and investigations already underway into Labor’s failed hotel quarantine scheme:

  • The Coate Board of Inquiry into the COVID-19 Hotel Quarantine Program
  • A Fair Work Ombudsman investigation into wage theft in Labor’s hotel quarantine program
  • The Public Accounts and Estimates Committee’s Inquiry into the Victorian Government’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • The Victorian Auditor-General is examining the up to $24.5 billion in borrowings Labor has accessed to manage the COVID pandemic

Despite this long list of inquiries Daniel Andrews refuses to be honest with Victorians about how his hotel quarantine program managed to go so terribly wrong.

Comments attributable to Leader of the Opposition, Michael O’Brien:

“Daniel Andrews refuses to be honest with Victorians about his botched hotel quarantine program so no fewer than six investigations are now seeking the facts.

“The Andrews Labor Government should have called in the ADF, not unqualified and unprofessional security guards.

“Daniel Andrews stuffed up, so Victorians are locked up. They deserve the truth.”
