The Liberal Nationals are calling on the state government to adopt a Road Trip for Victoria plan to boost Victorian-based tourism.
Given there has been limited support to regional tourism by the Andrews Labor Government the Liberal Nationals’ ‘Road Trip for Victoria’ plan would offer Victorians a 50 per cent discount up to $200 on tours or accommodation when booking three nights or more, to stimulate Victorian tourism.
It’s been a horror year for Victoria’s tourism industry after it was decimated by the second wave of COVID-19 caused by the Andrews Labor Government’s botched hotel quarantine program.
The Liberal Nationals plan to get tourism back to work calls on the State Government to establish a dedicated $300 million Victorian Tourism Fund to support tourism operators to recover and promote local tourism.
The Liberal Nationals are also calling on the government to provide $400 million to develop and upgrade tourist attractions across Victoria in 2021. This could fast track community supported private investment in tourism infrastructure on private land.
Many regional communities have first been hit by devastating bushfires, then an avoidable COVID-19 second wave. Supporting and rebuilding local businesses must be Labor’s number one priority.

“The Victorian government must put money into tourist attractions and reward local travel in order to support jobs and our economy.
“Labor has no plan to get small business and especially our tourism sector up and running, that’s why we are urging it to adopt the Liberal Nationals’ plan to get Victoria back to work.”
