The latest NAB Monthly Business Survey confirms that business confidence and conditions in Victoria are deteriorating, yet there is still little to no support or a plan in place for the economic recovery from the Andrews Labor Government.
Business conditions in Victoria have plummeted, recording an 18 percentage point fall in June. Business confidence in Victoria has also fallen to 14 points.
Victoria recorded the worst business conditions of any mainland state and the sharpest fall in business conditions of any state in Australia.
The survey confirms what many in the business community already know to be true; Victoria is becoming an increasingly difficult place to do business. Low business confidence and conditions are part of the ongoing impact of a government that is quick to impose harsh lockdowns and slow to offer support to the business community.
Victorians need a safe pair of hands and a post-COVID-19 plan rather than running Victoria’s finances on a wing and a prayer.
Daniel Andrews has no plan and it’s putting the economic recovery at risk that Victorian people worked so hard to earn.
Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:
“Victorian business conditions have taken a staggering hit in June, and confidence about the future continues to worsen.
“It is no surprise that the Andrews Labor Government’s inability to manage outbreaks makes business confidence impossible, and it is clear that Victoria’s fourth lockdown last month made conditions substantially worse for many businesses.
“Despite the Andrews Labor Government promising support, many businesses in Victoria are still waiting to receive support grants weeks after the lockdown was imposed.
“Clearly, Victorian businesses can’t rely on the Andrews Government to deliver the support, confidence and conditions they need.”
