The quarterly NAB Consumer Confidence report released today shows that Victorians are worried about the economy and the Andrews Labor Government’s ability to manage it.
As NAB says, “consumers are essential to Australia’s ongoing recovery post COVID-19 with household expenditure making up around 60 per cent of our economy.”
The numbers show that consumer anxiety around job security and government policy in Victoria is the highest in Australia.
Victoria was also one of only two states with higher levels of consumer anxiety in the September quarter compared to the June quarter.
Victorians are more concerned about the economy than any other state in Australia.
The report covers the period for Victoria’s second wave of COVID-19 caused by Labor’s bungled hotel quarantine program and inadequate contact tracing.
Comments attributable to Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:
“Another report today shows that Victorians are rightly worried about their economic future under Daniel Andrews.
“With 219,000 Victorians having lost their jobs since the pandemic began, we need a plan to get people back to work and back in business.
“More than anywhere else in Australia, Victorians are concerned about Daniel Andrews getting them out of this mess.
“The Liberal Nationals have a plan to create jobs across all sectors of the Victorian economy so Victorians can get back to work.”
