Reports today that the Cranbourne Golf Course has been targeted in an anti-Semitic attack is yet another painful example of the Nazi Swastika being used to incite fear and intolerance in the community.
Founded by Jewish golfers in 1954 following their exclusion from other clubs, the Cranbourne Golf Course has been the site of multiple anti-Semitic attacks featuring the Nazi swastika across its history.
Today’s reports follow several incidents in recent times in Caulfield, Beulah, Kyabram and Wagga Wagga, where Nazi symbolism has been used in deliberate attempts to intimidate and threaten a range of minority groups.
Earlier this year, the Victorian Liberal Nationals announced a policy to ban the public display of the Nazi Swastika and other Nazi symbols used to incite hatred in the community.
The Victorian Liberal Nationals will continue to pursue this important policy and we renew our calls for the Andrews Labor Government to support bipartisan legislation to introduce this important ban.
