Under questioning during Question Time in the Upper House this afternoon, the Andrews Labor Government was again unable to tell Victorians when VicRoads would resume license testing.
Since suspending testing in March, VicRoads has failed to detail when practical license testing will resume or how they will deal with the backlog of cancelled tests.
Despite repeated calls from the Liberal Nationals for VicRoads to detail its plans and extend the operation of its limited COVID-19 testing program, the Andrews Labor Government has refused to make any comment until now.
During Question Time today, the only answer that Minister for Roads, Jaala Pulford was willing to offer was that “an announcement will be made soon.”

“Minister Pulford has arrogantly ignored the Liberal Nationals’ calls for VicRoads to resume practical license testing.
“Once again, Minister Pulford has simply refused to give an assurance to everybody that had a test cancelled or that wants to take a test now.
“Victoria is opening back up. Cafes are open, restaurants are open. Victorians are safely going about their lives. Premier Andrews is telling us to stay away from public transport, but how can young people do that if they can’t get a license?”

“The need for drivers in regional and rural areas to have a license is vitally important at the best of times, but during the COVID pandemic, even more.
“Minister Pulford must immediately widen the testing program and ensure that Victorians across the state, not just those in big cities, have access to a driving test.”
