Labor must get into gear to prevent travel chaos

Victorians are facing regional rail chaos just before Christmas with services set to be cut back due to union action.

Reports today that maintenance staff will stop working is bad news for Victorians who have already been hit hard by Labor’s COVID-19 second wave.

Until recently Victoria was split in half with a hard border around the city. Just when people are able to travel freely again Labor allows this union to put movement on public transport at risk.

This is just another example of unions holding the Andrews Labor Government to ransom.  It’s time for Daniel Andrews to put Victorians first and settle this before passengers are impacted.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport, David Davis:

Andrews and his weak Transport Minister must intervene to ensure that this is settled before passengers are impacted.

“We all need to pull together — especially those with secure employment when so many have lost jobs.”

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations, Nick Wakeling:

“The last thing Victorians need is a strike in the lead up to Christmas.  Especially after they’ve been hit so hard by COVID-19 and Daniel Andrews’ lockdown.

“The Andrews Labor Government needs to fix this now.  Victorians must be their priority.”
