Liberal Nationals call for vaccine appointments to open up for the rest of 2021

The Liberal Nationals are calling on vaccine appointment slots to be opened up for the rest of the year in an effort to allow all Victorians the ability to book into an appointment and to show intent for Australia’s vaccine rollout.

We want to see Victoria re-open, businesses re-open, people get back to work, students get back into the classroom, and people go about their daily lives without restrictions. We know the only way to do this is through vaccination.

By opening up vaccination bookings in a careful manner – that considers when more vaccine doses will arrive – this will ensure all Victorians can secure a booking well in advance and have more confidence in the vaccine rollout.

It would also provide a clearer indication of how many Victorians are willing to be vaccinated in each area of the state, what the ultimate vaccination rate will be and whether targeted campaigns are required for certain demographics.

With millions of doses of the COVID vaccine available and many more on the way, Victorians should have confidence that they can book their appointment, get the jab and help protect themselves, their family and community.

The Andrews Labor Government is guilty of having no plan for Victoria’s vaccine rollout or getting our state re-open. Only the Liberal Nationals have a positive plan to get our state back up and running.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:

“Nearly 45 per cent of Victorians have had their first COVID vaccination dose, which is an outstanding achievement, but many more millions are now ready to roll up the sleeve.

“The Liberal Nationals’ positive plan to open up vaccine appointments will give confidence to all levels of government about the demand for vaccination, local supply needs and any areas that require targeted informational campaigns.

“It’s clear Victorians are keen to be vaccinated and it’s pleasing to see we are on track to have a high vaccination rate by the end of the year, lets secure these appointments and get back to re-opening our state.”
