Yesterday’s announcement that 4-year-old kinder fees would be funded for Term 2 to ensure the financial viability of kinders has the left most students, parents and the organisations that run 3-year-old kinder programs in the lurch.
The State Government said in its funding announcement last week that it was giving kinders “the funding certainty they need”.
However, many Victorian kinders are still at financial risk due to the State Government’s lack of funding for most 3-year-old kinder programs.
The Liberal Nationals call on the State Government to fund Term 2 fees for 3-year-old kinder programs across Victoria to help ease the burden on both parents and kinders at this difficult time.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Cindy McLeish:
“The State Government’s kinder funding announcement has only done half the job; it’s time it funded all 3-year-old kinder places too.
“The lack of funding from the State Government for all 3-year-old kinder programs is leaving kinders financially exposed.
“3-year-old kinder programs deserve to be fully supported by the State Government at this difficult time.”
