Labor’s Health Minister, Jenny Mikakos needs to immediately explain the callous and inhumane Health Department directives that are turning away vulnerable Victorians from hospitals.
Minister Mikakos has told Victorians that our health system is ready and yet her Health Department has allegedly said it did not have beds “for those type of people”.
What sort of state are we living in if the Andrews Labor Government is directing Victorians away from receiving hospitalisation whether they require medical treatment, COVID-19 positive or not?
As reported in The Australian:
“Medical experts say the practice of sedating elderly patients with COVID-19 is “inhumane” and risks exacerbating their respiratory condition and potentially even causing an earlier death.”
All Victorians deserve dignity and decisions must be made on an individual basis by their treating doctor.
To have vulnerable people turned away from hospital shows just how chaotic and dysfunctional Victoria’s health system is under the management of Jenny Mikakos and Labor.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier:
“Labor’s decision to turn vulnerable Victorians away from hospital when they need care is wrong and heartless.
“Vulnerable Victorians don’t deserve to be abandoned by the Andrews Labor Government during this COVID crisis.”
