V/Line travellers stranded…again

V/Line travellers have again been stranded after faults caused a system-wide outage which hit the network twice in three days.

The disruption has led V/Line to tell travellers to defer all travel except for that deemed to be essential.

Buses have been called in to replace peak hour trains on the Bendigo, Ballarat, Seymour, Geelong and Gippsland lines.

Today’s last minute service changes follow similar network-wide disruptions on Monday.

Daniel Andrews has no plan for Victoria’s recovery from COVID-19 and today’s V/Line disaster is yet another example of Labor’s disregard for our regional communities.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Public Transport (Regional), Steph Ryan:

“Under Labor, V/Line’s performance just goes from bad to worse.

“These massive disruptions make it harder for people who have to be back in the workplace.

“Over the years Labor has chronically under-invested in regional public transport, making it harder for people who want to return to some normality after the chaos of COVID.

“The cost overruns on metropolitan projects like the West Gate Tunnel, the Suburban Rail Loop and Metro Tunnel could pay to replace all of our regional train services, but Labor won’t even front up to keep the current network running.

“Instead of planning for the future, the Andrews Labor Government is cutting V/Line’s budget, leaving country passengers with little hope of improvement.”
